Interesting. It's apparently lepidocrocite: ". . . The Lepidocrocite is included in the quartz, which is generally a mixture of clear quartz, amethyst and smoke quartz.
The Brazilians call this material Kokoshanite. Our wholesaler was one of the first to bring this material to the US. At first he was selling this material as rutilated amethyst. This material contains black needle like crystals. These crystals often resemble hematite, which is quite often associated with rutile. Thus the assumption.
We now know that these needles are Lepidocrocite. They seem to be either tarnished with that iridescent hematite look or a very nice red.. . ." From www.minerals-n-more.com/LepidoC_Info.htmlThis one has a really neat picture that shows all of the stones in one: www.jjgems.com/about_super7_crystals.htmEileen

Thanks Eileen for the info! I can see from the pictures its unusual...the stuff I saw on Ebay looked like Amethyst or Ametrine not that unusual. No Rallyrocks I didn't miss the thread, but I was only wondering about the Rock itself, sort of in the same sense that Tahoma jasper is expensive but I can see why because of its awesome patterns. Just wonderin if it glowed in the dark , tap danced or maybe mowed the lawn for that kind of bucks. <Grins> AgateHeaven

AgateHeaven...Eileens second link to jjgems is a little more accurate as to what the "stone" is actually supposed to be. There's a woman named "Melody" who is supposed to be the go to gal about all things metaphysical in rocks & minerals. She wrote the "bible" of rock books called Love is in the Earth and I think...she was the one that decided this specific stone was the super 7 because she felt (or hopefully for her sake, she had it mineralogically tested) all of these types of rock were incorporated into the one.
Now...I personally don't buy the hype but for those into that thing, this is supposed to be THE STONE. It's quartz fer christ sakes! LOL
