Cut into a chunk of tiger iron and this is what we got. I really like the patterns. What do you think??? Cheryl

I believe that is known as picture tiger eye, and not tiger iron.
Nice stuff!
Edited to add. It's basically tiger eye with hematite layers. Tiger iron would also have red jasper in it.

Tiger iron: I may have spoken too soon on the "picture" part of the name. I had a seller call it that, but can't find any book references to that name. I don't know if there is another technical name for it (I'm looking!), but it's tiger eye with hematite. I like the picture tiger eye name and doubt that you would have many argue the point ;D

It is referred to as "scenic" Tigereye. It comes from South Africa.
