Well it was the blade!!
I bought a new 10" dia. x .040 core x 5/8" x 1/2" arbor MK Diamond Gemking and it cuts fantastic! I've only cut 5 hunks of obsidian just to break in the blade and tomorrow I'll finally get back to the wonderston!
Thanks all for all your opinions, ideas and suggestions on this!

Hmm... I wonder if he blade you were using didn't cut a wide enough kerf and combined with the wonderstone sucking up all the oil bound the saw. I know MK blades are one of the best and the diamond area on the edge stand out farther then the import blades.

Technically the gemking is an imported blade (Korean). It is made for MK/Barranca to replace their 301 blade. It has notch-like segments along the kerf surface so looks like it will out perform the 303's (also Korean).

Hi Rock, Both the old and new blades are the same thickness so I don't think that that was the problem. The final test will come today when I get back to cutting the wonderstone.
John, It's getting harder and harder to by Made In America and after all is said and done all that will be available for us will be cheap imported goods.
I see a lot of people here buying "discount" diamond tools and equipment.I've done it myself until I learned the hard way that there is no such thing.
We,as Americans tend to run to these "discount" retailers such as Walmart,Home Depot,Lowes, and others that supply our hobby. What a LOT of people do not realize is that once all the local retailers are put out of business we will be at the importers mercy and the only products offered to us will be much lower quality then we really want and need.
I had no idea my new blade was an import made in Korea! Are there diamond blades made in the USA?
