Very nice, mate. I'm torn between the first and last ones. Great work.

That's the kind of opals I like the stuff that just flashes through the darker matrix - they're fabulous! - they're all fantastic! Did I say I really liked them all?

Man, these are the kind of rocks that you can look at all day. I love all of those, they're just so complicated. I'd have to put them into jewelry so I could look at them all the time.

Thanks, everyone! They are really fun to do because it is always a surprise. I imagine the long time cutters know what to expect, but to me it is always a magical wonderment Tony/Nephrite - I hold you responsible for my addiction Seeing your great work made me want to get high too, and now I'm lost and loving it. Thanks for your posts, my friend!! As for the ring... well, I put off making it as I don't know how yet, lol!! But I'll learn. And Mike - Thanks for Australia!! Please pass that on to who ever is responsible over there for making Koroits Tony

Fantastic cabs Tony. The last one has some great green in it. Did you dry polish these?

Hey, Tony T --- yes I did use the wood on some of them. I'm going to be doing a lot of polishing with the wood soon. I have a bunch worked up to the polish stage now. Hey, Karen! Glad you liked the page! I'm now trying to figure out how to make some rock dino's. It would take a lot of carving... but mounting it would be the big deal, lol. Tony

Wow - I have officially been stunned........ Opal (the darker Aussie "fire opal") has always been my favorite gem - ever! I didn't know it could get better!!!! Those are simply astounding pieces!!! So, how & where do you get the rough to work those beauties? I am, again, amazed ~ (btw - can they be tumbled? or are they to soft & fragile??)

Hey, Raquel! Thanks! I got my rough from Gene McDevitt Www.Koroit.com YOu can email him about rough, or he also sells on ebay if you like auctions No... I wouldn't think tumbling would be a good idea....but I can't say for sure. It is soft stone, with cracks and pits to look out for. It is expensive, and I haven't tried it... but I guess with enough marbles and pellets and rubber bands and some luck you might get something from tumbling. YOu would have to check them every few hours as the opal layer can be very thin and it is easy to grind through it. I kind of doubt it would work but maybe others have tried it and could tell you better than I can. Tony

You're really getting some nice cabs from your opal Tony. This stuff is very addictive, I know that first hand.
