click the link, and you can see how a UV-10 Vibe tumbler works. sorry the video is so dark, didn't realize there wasn't enough light, but it still give you the idea.
If you watch closely, there is even some small slabs in there

It's a little dark but I can tell how damp the stone is and see the grit sticking along with the action. This is a great post, it's very helpfull for a new person to vibes to see what it should look like. This should be saved for later reference.

Hi Alex,
Thats a good link Alex, I havve a Lot "O" and it rotates the stones from Left to Right not to the center as this one shows ,
But the action is the same and you can see the right "Gloss" of the mix of grit/slurry on the stones
Thanks for showing,

Hi
Conrock has brought up a point about the above reply ,
The Lot "O" action should be towards the motor

I know that CE Vibe tumblers are dry only (my dad has one and it's the only reason that I haven't stolen.....er ...borrowed it. Does anyone know why you can't put water in them? Do they leak?

Not sure, but I don't think the bowls can take it. The Thumlers bowls are thick and very tough, and I don't think that you can wear one out. Mine is showing no signs of wear after 2 1/2 years.

I'm using two Harbor Freight vibe tumbler bowls right now. One on a Raytech TV-5 motor and the other on an RCBS motor. Both are working great and you can't beat the price $14.95. I haven't had any leakage problem. The center part of the bowl doesn't come up to the top of the bowl so you can't fill it up much past that. Once it starts rolling the center part is the shallow part of the mass of rocks.
I did discover some premature wear on the one I was using grit with. The places where the bowl has indents in started wearing at the bottom. I could see light around those areas when I washed it out last. So I took some steel epoxy putty and filled in the indentations on the outside thinking it will wear through and then into the epoxy. I tested out if the steel epoxy would stick to the bowl while it vibrated so I puttied one and let it run with a load for two days and it is definitely stuck on.
I keep spare HF bowls on hand since my last blowout. I'm tempted to order one of their vibes and give it a road test. They are on sale for $39.95 marked down from $49.95 on the website. I keep checking the fliers they mail me to see if they have them on sale. They sell them in the store for $59.95. So I may get impatient and order one off the website and some replacement bowls.

Are they all that noisy? Or was it because the lid was off?

Roan, they are pretty noisy with the lid off, and with the lid on, you can still hear it if it's in the next room, someone else on here compared the noise to a "eletric razor on steriods" and i'll say that about sum's it up pretty good.

Thanks! I have my rotary Lortone in the kitchen and to me it's not that loud. I'm hearing impaired, mind you, but hubby and kids say it's not loud either.

I finally got around to putting a batch in the Lot-o for the first time. With that and my big rotary going out in my shop it sounds like I left my big compressor running out there. I can hear them from up at the house which is about 75 ft away from my workshop.
