I'm new and from PA too, but from everything I read, PA is the pits for cool rocks.

I looked through the first link, and none of the places they have listed are any where near western PA. We are a loooong state..many of tose are way over on the other side...at least a good 4-5 hours away from me. (I think the closest was Willimaport and tht is still about 2 1/2 hours..my sister lives around tht area) At that rate, I would sugget adding the extra hour or so and hitting Michigan! (but thanks for the tips, bookmarked it in case we ever end up that way for something.)

4-5 hours ? You're lucky. I have a 7 hour drive to reach decent rock hunting grounds. Don

Well, I guess since he titled the thread WESTERN PA, I thought he was looking for or info for sites on that side of the state. My mistake, sorry.
