I finally got some time to really cab over the last week. I finished 3 batches totally 29 cabs which doubles the amount of cabs I have now done. I ground them to 600 grit on the grinder and then used 1200, 3k, 14k and 50k diamond paste on a wood wheel. The shine came up pretty good but quite as good as the cabs I have from Redwoodrocks. I'm hoping to eventually get mine as shiny as Cal gets his. I gave up on dopping and started just using my fingers. I have always had trouble keeping the stones on the stick whether I was using dop wax or superglue. It doesn't really matter now though because I like just using my fingers so much better than a stick. I seem to get a much better feel that way. Blue lace agate oval. Brazilian (I think) that I got from LadyB in her poetry contest. Miss ya Kate. It was my first free form cab. Back lit. I think this might be chrysocolla and malachite but I'm not sure. Feel free to correct me. I got this from Jamie & Rodney. Piertersite. Not the nice stuff from Africa with the blues but from China. Not bad though, has some chatoyance. From the local rock shop. My second free form. Unknown jasper. Any ideas? Unknown. This one was pretty soft. Note the tiny green crystal near the bottom. Any ideas what this is? Thanks for looking.

Lookin good Tony, you are really progressing. Wow, that Brazilian has a killer pattern and the shape you chose really compliments it.

That Brazilian is so awesome. The Jasper looks like Rocky Butte.

That Brazilian is wonderful! I like your shapes too. As for dopping... I only use superglue on nails as I can't get it to stick with wood dowels. With dowels I use 5 minute epoxy and it holds great, as does the super glue on the nail heads. I don't use the epoxy on the nails as it is near impossible to remove whereas the superglue loosens in water after soaking overnight. I get the wood dowel off using a utility knife ... working the blade between the wood and rock...and the stone just pops off. Try it... you'll like it T
