I have been trying to find some vibra dry polish for several month with no success. anyone know a source for this polish. I have found it to be a great final stage polish.

VibraDry+ is a Diamond Pacific product. Is anyone using this stuff? Was thinking of trying it as the Alum. Oxide I now use is leaving residue in every crevice that is hard to remove.

...the Alum. Oxide I now use is leaving residue in every crevice that is hard to remove. Was having the same issue until I started running a burnishing stage with just borax. Run it for a hour or so then add water to thin everything and run another 10 min or so before dumping. Now I get very little residue and what there is comes out easily with water flush and a toothbrush (just don’t let the stones dry out before you check them).

Do you have any problems with the Borax dulling the finish of the stones?

Do you have any problems with the Borax dulling the finish of the stones? All borax does is break surface tension. It makes the water wetter. Therefore it helps clean the cracks and voids.

Do you have any problems with the Borax dulling the finish of the stones? Nope, they come out just fine. Shiny as I could want. I think the borax helps take that last thin film of polish off the stones that might dry to a haze otherwise.

I have also tried washing soda, baking soda and TSP. All seem to work for burnishing, but baking soda sometimes creates gas that needs to be burped from the tumbler (if burnishing for a number of hours). TSP might be overkill, especially when compared to Ivory soap or Borax. It might be interesting to mix some of these ingredients.

Vibra Dry is a Diamond Pacific product. I use Tide detergent for burnishig but did find soft stone polish dulled with burnishing. The Vibra Dry works very well and is a reusable product so cost decreases with use.
