I was on a nostalgia trip yesterday and I came across a few photos of pendants that I had stashed in my "private vault". You know.... those certain pieces that you fall in love with so hard that you just can't let them go. So, you stash them away for awhile and then maybe pass them on to someone who just can't live without them. I have attached a few photos of some of my favorites, a couple of them made from material you don't see too much. I hope you enjoy them. This is a piece of Eden Valley fossil wood. It would not take a super glossy polish, but I like it for the unusual pattern. I cut this pendant from a really nice piece of fossil pine cone from Argentina. You can actually see the shape of the seed pods. In S.C., where I live, you can find pieces of fossilized ivory from the tusks of mammoths and mastodons. If you are very careful not to break the pieces while working on them, you can shape and polish the ivory into jewelry. This piece shows the circular growth rings (similar to wood) and you can see that this is the very center of the tusk. And last, but not least, the obligatory coprolite pendant. This one has red and white plumes that really stand out in contrast to each other. For those of you who do not know what coprolite is, look in up in your Funk and Wagnall's. Thanks for looking! All very Nice! I really get into polishable fossils. When I was a kid, they dug up a Mammoth near here. I got a couple of pieces of ivory but then they covered it back up so people wouldn't haul it all off. Never heard if they ever went back and uncovered it.

Wow, those are all really neat! My favorite is the second one.
Don't know if I could ever wear coprolite (grin) but that last one sure is pretty!

Those are all really cool! I think my favorite is the pine cone...I love how you can still see the little seed pods.
