Some of us use superglue and a 16 nail. Sometimes the stone will pop right off, and sometimes it's a b!tch.

Gel super glue on a nail or tack. 5 minute epoxy on a wooden dowel. Soak the super glue in water to pop it off...and, or, freeze it... that contracts the metal and loosens it right up. A utility knife to work away at the epoxy works for dowels when you are ready to remove it. I've taken to using golf tees now with super glue gell. T

Use a wooden dowel and the extra strong Liquid Nails adhesive in a caulk tube. This is the stuff that they use to glue paneling to walls. It is so strong you won't believe it. It does not dry super fast, though... probably overnight is best. When you want to remove it, put the dowel and stone in a microwave for about 20 seconds. It softens the liquid nails to the consistency of soft chewing gum and you can take it right off the dowel. Let it cool a few seconds and you can wipe the excess off with a paper towel. Sounds crazy but it works. Liquid Nails is also great for holding pieces of rough to a block of wood when you are cutting slabs in a saw. Remove the rock the same way..in a microwave.

I use super glue with an accelerator and use plastic tubing as my dop stick, that way the only surface area that is glued to the stone is the wall of the tubing. It holds well and comes off easily when you're done. I can glue the stone and start cabbing immediately.

I use super glue. Special T green label because it's thicker and an accelerator spray to speed things up. Then when I'm done cutting I drop the stone and dop into an ice cream bucket with about two inches of acetone. It comes of the dop in about an hour. I use and 16d nails. Rick

Hi Scott,
I have never used wax and many of my pro friends haven't either. Most use Car body filler as the stone will stay fixed for years. This requires boiling water to soften and remove. This will set rock hard in a couple of hours, sooner if you use more catalyst.
However, for a quick fix try wood glue on a wooden dowel, boiling water will also quickly remove this too. this takes overnight to set.
Hope this helps,
Derek

Tried the super glue out. Worked really well. Thanks for the advice.
