Tony is cutting some Green Obsidian for me and maybe he will post a picture for us before he sends it back. A gentleman by the name of Craig Ratzat owns the Green Obsidian mine in Burns oregon. He had rough available last I knew, if anyone is interested

What has been cut so far A cut across the banding same picture with flash A cut with the banding A picture of both next to each other, taken dry, these are the same stone just cut 90 degrees from each other. There is still more to come.....................Tony

Jack,
I will be using it for flint knapping. Some of the material is too hard to find or too costly to percussion flake so to conserve material we slab it and pressure flake it. Most agate we use has to be heat treated also.

Hmmm Well It's a first for me to see... Never knew there was Green Obsidian until now.. and sounds llke a great idea you have instore for it Agatemaggot.. Can't wait to see what it looks like polished tho.. so don't forget the pics!!

Looks like you could get a few nice spear points from that batch. Attach them to straight White Ash Branch's, fletch it with crow feathers and....... OK, I'm dreaming.

Yes green obsidian exists, but it is gray-green and opaque (like you see here), not transparent and emerald green like glass slag is
