Got a flat-rater of various California poppy jaspers from Mel and threw some of the smaller pieces in the tumbler right away.
Some typical lookin’ rough:

And after 11 days in 60/90 w/one re-charge – first dry, then wet:

DANG! Those already look sweet. I love the contrast between the white, green and red. The orbs and speckles and stripes are killer. Please keep us updated.

Dean: Those poppy jasper and brecciated varieties are all from near Hornitos in Mariposa county. In our explorations of the area around my ranch and neighboring areas, my buddy and I have found probably over a dozen different outcrops of neat jaspers with many of the types being orbicular or poppy types. Both vein and nodule forms are present. One monolith of brecciated jaspelite ( jasper plus hematite) is about a 100 foot cube. Amazing! Some of the varieties are as fractured as the Morgan Hills stuff but some of the types are pretty darn solid too. Oddly enough, yellow, so common in Morgan Hill, Guadalupe of Indian Valley stuff is very rare in the Sierras. Mostly reds, pinks and purples there......Mel

You may not see this batch all finished and shiney . . . from me, at least. Turns out my four-year-old grandson's a little rocknut, and some wise guy had a Model T delivered to their house today. Just got got the email and the pics . . . it's rollin' tonight!! I'm workin' on gettin' a bunch of rocks through the coarse stage, then I'll send him little mini flat-raters in video cassette boxes. He'll be able to finish a batch in two or three weeks. Oh, and I better call the Rock Shed tomorrow and order him a grit kit . . . hold the pellets, for now. ;D Rich
