First I want to say hello to all, yes I'm a n00b here. So here's my question...I have had this rock for quite sometime now, I know it's turquoise, but what kind. Some general info bout' the rock...it has been cut just so I could see what the center looked like..I don't know call it curiosity. So basically I have almost 2 equal parts, well the other is a bit larger than this one. I've had this thing for almost 9 years..it was left behind by my Great Grandfather...I have no clue what it's worth if anything at all, or what if anything I can do w/ it as I don't have a tumbler or anything of the sorts. It's basically been used as a big blue paper weight... Basically, I would really appreciate it if someone, anyone can tell me what exactly I have here. You can check some of the pics out here: www.members.cox.net/~pulpz/So, if anyone can help let me know! And here's a big thank you in advance! Thanks again, pulpz

Looks kinda like chrysocolla, but I'm not one of the experts.

Welcome Pulpz! Off the cuff I it looks more like malachite with azurite from Arizona than it does turquoise.

Thanks for the replies...I was looking around at photos of malachite with azurite type of rocks/minerals, but the only difference I can see in them and the rock or mineral I have is that mine doesn't have any of the "fuzzy" or "crystal like" formations or areas in it. The only thing I see in a couple areas are clearish whites semi circles, which I assume are possibly quartz? Like I said I don't have any knowledge of rocks/minerals. As well as most of the images I am finding the colors are more "greenish" than blue. My photos may not show the color too well, but the rock is really blue as well as it has a considerable amount of weight to it.
Thanks again!

Well, if I could figure out excatly what type of rock/mineral it is as well as what it may be worth if anything...I would possibly sell it to you, stonesthatrock. Not too mention we aren't located too far from each other, as I am in Phoenix. I'll try to find out exactly what it is and keep you in mind if there comes a time to sell it. ;D
Do you think it would help if I took some real close up photos of the rock to perhaps help in identification? If so, I will do that but the photos won't look like an image of a rock..just it's surface areas.
Lemme know!

I'd agree on the copper-based minerals definitely, and I also think Malachite & Azurite, or Chysocolla.
You might get more attention if you actually posted the pictures on this site instead of off site. If they could look at it here, more people might answer.
