Found this on a recent trip in the desert of nevada and trying to id it. Any help would be appreciated, it is part of a collection I am making for a local school:

I've go some slabs of that stuff and a big hunk of rough and the guy I got it from didn't know what it was either. He called it flowerstone and I think it appears to be a type of rhyolite. Don't know much else about it....Mel

That looks similar to that material they call Chrysthanamum Stone ( probably butchered that spelling ) That comes from China ? I doubt that a tourist dropped that piece out in the middle of the desert thou. Neat looking material !
