We are in NW New Mexico for a couple of weeks waiting for the weather to clear further north. Are there any collecting sites in the Farmington New Mexico area?
Later will move to Chama NM then on to Taos then into Colorado.
Any hints or suggestions appreciated

New Mexico is a great place for Rocks.
One of the easiest places ( well it was four years ago)to collect Agate is on the road leading into Pedernal Peak. It is a great place to take some pix too. The location was in one of those rockhounding New Mexico Books but I can remember it was close to Abiqui Reservoir just a bit north and west(which is supposed to have agate along the perimeter). On the road in after you turn off the main road onto a dirt road and about 100yards ahead on the left is an incredible amount of agate. There was collecting in Cuba(maybe pet wood) and in Farmington theer is suppossed to be Petwood along the highway's access road but I only found a few scattered pieces there. csroc
