Many thanks to all that gave guidance on why my first attempt to polish jellybean quartz didn't work. Since then I have taken delivery of some .5 micron al oxide and plastic pellets and had another go. Success!!!! Beautiful shine. I will post some pikkies once the weather stops being wet and I can photgraph then in the sun. Gives me an excuse to use my new Nikon D40...

no sun - it's rained all week or been cloudy in between rain. I thought I'd be okay this morning, but.... it started raining. Here's hoping for tomorrow.
