Last Saturday my local rock club had a group trip to morefield mine in Amelia VA. It was very crowded and after I fought for my Amazonite from the daily mine dumps I headed off to a quieter spot. I started noticing some odd looking rocks. About that time the mine owner came over and we had a nice chat.

He informed me that the rocks I was looking at came from a quarry in NC. I asked him if it cabbed well and he didnt know. Actually he said "Don't think anyone has ever tried." So I quickly picked up about 10 pounds worth. should have gotten more!!

NC quarry rock. This stone has moss and what appears to be cracks however they are actually lil strands of moss like material running through them.

If anyone has any clue please let me know.

And of coarse a Amazonite cab.

That's actually a really nice quality amazonite! I've seen a lot recently that's been a very pale green, so it's nice to see the more vibrant colored ones!
