I stopped ebaying for quite a few months, but had a relapse ;D, and this is one of the pieces I bought when temptation won out. It's a 1.5 lb face-polished chunk of Morgan Hill poppy jasper, but what really strikes me is that I think if I came across a rock like this in the rough, I probably wouldn't even bother bringing it home for a second look. But cut and polished, what a difference! -Don Rough side: Cut and polished side:

what a contrast.....yes, you're right, the rough side looks fairly unremarkable, but POW! the polished side is extraordinary!
i've been trying to stay away from the 'Bay, too. i've got a new rule, one bid....no rebids. it's working so far, i keep losing. haha.

Boy, that's a beautiful hunk of MH jasper! Actually looks to be very solid for poppy jasper too. Great polish and a really nice specimen!.....Mel

Great lookin' piece, Don. I think the rough side looks pretty good, actually. I got a lot worse lookin' stuff than that.
But Mel . . . yer crackin' me up with that "looks to be very solid". I see at least five earthquakes on the face of it. ;D ;D
