:)I have been reading, learning all I can here. I bought a Workfore saw. gathering rocks, buying rocks. And today I found myself at the Rockshed site Buying more rock and a Tumbler. Thanks to RTH forum here, I have a new hobby. I hear there is no cure for this addiction. My friend asked me If I was alright? When I Started gathering rocks one day. LOL If she only knew. Greg

Greg, It's a losing battle! You'll just have to learn to deal with it. Just don't let your friends catch you licking the rocks...then they'll really lift their eyebrows. As for me...everyone already knows... I'm a lost cause! Steve

Yes, there's no cure aparently and even if it would be one, most of us don't want to know about it. But you can contaminate some others, by showing them a rough rock and the same type of rock polished. Welcome! Adrian

Oh boy, you're hooked now. Don't forget about a slab saw, flat lap, cabbing unit, sphere grinder and more!! Welcome to the wonderful world of lapidary.

Hi Greg and welcome to the addiction. There is no cure so go pick rocks to your hearts content, you'll find out, there's never enough of them.

Hi Greg! Not only is there no cure, but the absence of a means to polish the rocks will not stop the insane urge to pick up more good looking rocks! I have a Lortone 45c, but no place to set it up. That doesn't stop me from collecting rocks from the beach. I think I have about 50lbs of beach rock or more. Living close to the beach isn't always a good thing...

*LOL* Yep, it all starts with dragging home that first purdy rock. Then, before you know it, you have to cut trails through your rock piles just to get around the yard and house....Mel

And you develop neck problems from always walking looking down at the ground. I knew I was lost when (while still working at a real job) I was on a newly re-roofed mall roof and started picking up pink and grey gravel from the roof.

Welcome, fellow addict here. I've just fed my addiction some mushroom jasper! It's going to arrive when I'm off work. WooHoo.
