When I first joined I was known by my username, FormerBeachcomber, I was living in northeast Colorado. But now I'm back to where I first fell in love with rocks, the rocky beaches of Puget Sound. I live in Anacortes, WA on Fidalgo island with my husband and 7 year old son. My mom got me into rock tumbling after she bought her first rock tumbler from Harbor Freight. A year later she bought a Lortone 45c and I bought one for myself(2004). Mom has tumbled more than 52 batches of beach rock so far, but for different reasons I've only polished 4. Small kids can get curious about things like jars of grits and polishes... My son poured out a 1 lb jar of course grit on our livingroom floor, then added some finer grit, then a little bit of AO. Then he added some grit to the 1 lb jar of AO. *heavy sigh* It didn't matter where I kept my supplies, he would do his best to find them. I did try to include him in the rock tumbling process, but for some reason he thought it was ok for him to play with my things when my back was turned. Now he's a couple years older, loves finding pretty rocks on the beach and as soon as we finally find a larger place, we'll start polishing rocks again. I'm pretty sure that I have enough rocks to last me for quite a while, but that doesn't stop me from picking up more. I swear they practically call for me to pick them up and take them off of the beach.

Welcome, welcome! Gosh, I'm glad my daughter never got into my grit! Good luck as you try again!

I love it around here, KD! I'll try to take some pix of my area and I'll post them. Thanks Amy, I sure am looking forward to getting moved to a new place and tumbling rocks again. This will happen sometime this summer. Wendy
