Hi everybody. I'm looking for a local (bay area) supplier of technical grade mineral oil. I have found some online but the shipping for 5 gallons is $30.00.

Anybody know where I can buy some in person, not too far from Oakland?

Look in the yellow pages for a wholesale oil supplier/distributor.
In this area it is called United Oil, but I don't know what it will be in your area.
My local United Oil has it in bulk in 2,000 gallon containers and I just take my 5 gallon buckets in and they fill them for me for about 25 bucks.
