most of you know, i tend to produce boring ovals most of the time, but here are a few freeforms i had some fun with today. first a piece of boulder opal that Tony (nephrite) sent me, man, this is messy stuff to play with:  i still can't manage a very good shine (or a decent photo) on this stuff either. next up is an end cut of "Denim" Lapis, i left the flat side as the back and ground the front....this would look nice wrapped in gold...  except the edge is VERY thin and might give way to even a slight pressure. thanks for looking! Nice job on both of these. That may be the best shine possible on that BO, but it looks great. The lapis is nice too. Aren't freeforms fun?

Like those, KD! NIce patterns and shapes for them! I take the opal pics in the sun to get really good color flashes... and when I don't get the shine I want I take them right up through all the grits again with emphasis on the 3000 leather.... that might help. And wood wheels with diamond work great too! Hope you do more... the mess is just part of the fun  T |

Those look great. Sounds like you need a talented wire wrapper for that denim lapis.

KD, I can say by experience that your "boring ovals" are excellent cabs! And so are these two ones. I like especially the Koroit. I know how hard is to put a shine on it (I didn't manage).
