Hello -
1. When someone talks about 'recharging' does that mean they run a certain grit in for a period of time, dump it out and put in fresh?
Thanks -
Matt

HI Matt, Thats exactly what it means, grit particles break down after continued use, so it is faster to recharge with fresh grit particles. Usually coarse grit lasts 7-10 days, depending on how much material is in the barrel and how much grit you added.

You can also add supplemental amounts when checking every few days as well as adjusting water level. After a week or so if you you have nothing but thick broken down slurry left it is easier to start over in small tumblers.

Matt, Tony beat me to it. Although...I have never recharged. I've always kept my barrels running for at least 10 days without checking until I had the time..after the 10 days. I usually clean and sort them, and advance the ones that were ready and set aside the ones i thought needed more time. I now have enough rocks to add at the different stages (usually only 1st and 2nd) and keep the barrels filled to proper capacity. Steve
