I have a model B that's been running for a couple of weeks now. I know that I need to add a drop of oil periodically to the motor bearings, but do the nylon axle bearings need lubrication, too, or are they self-lubricating nylon?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, you have it backwards. You can put a drop of oil on the bearings at the start of each batch. The motor should get one or two drops of oil at first start up. You can repeat every 6 months to a year afterwards. Oiling the shaft bearings makes them prone to gathering dust and wayward grit. Keeping them clean is a good thing. Over-oiling the motor is a bad thing as the excess oil can saturate the motor windings.

Thanks, John. That's what I needed to know.
