A few years back I acquired a Thumbler Model B at an estate auction and had never used it. Now that I have found this site I want to try my hand at polishing some rocks with it. I don't know how the tumbler was used in the past so I have some questions. 1. Do I need several rubber barrel liners, one for each grit? 2. How much (quantity) of plastic pellets should be used? Thanks for your help Knapper

Just wash well between grits. If you have brittle material, like apache tears or such, then upto 2/5 th of the barrel for cushioning. Otherwise you onlyneed as much in the later stages as wears away during the grind - just to mantain the level.

Hi Knapper,
Welcome to the board ,,good advice from Deb
Dont be in to big a rush stones are very hard and take a long time to polish up
Try some Agates first and 3 months later we hope to see your photos .
Never befor has the saying "Patience is a virtue" been so true as when you are working with stones
