Possibly lapis. Does it have any pyrite flecks? If so it is lapis.

looks more like lapis to me then sodalite. sodalite has usually some white streaks running threw it.

Could be dumortierite in quartz too from near Indian pass in SE Calif. It's nickname is "Desert Lapis" and it has that nice Levis blue color to it. I believe it is found in some places in Nevada too. I have quite a bit of it and it looks very much like the stuff in the upper left of the first pic....Mel

I examined a few pieces under the microscope. The blue pieces do contain flecks of what looks like mica or pyrite. The more purple stone has inclusions of what appears to be both clear "white" and clear black quartz.

Yeah, some of the dumortieirite has flecks in it too but they look more silvery than gold like pyrite. It is in quartz so clear of white inclusions are sometimes present....Mel
