I am looking for a source to pickup some Alabaster from a Quarry somewhere in Utah.
I did find one in Cedar City, but they say the guy injured his back, and no longer works his quarry.
My Rock Turning Lathe is nearly complete, and I am looking for some stone to try it on.
Any tips to location and color of stone would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Cedar City & am not familiar with this alabaster mine you mention. Please tell me what you know about it.
I know where the agate is though. All over town!

If you do a search for Utah Alabaster, the one mentioned the most is listed below. They also talk about how he is disabled.
Utah Alabaster Supply 288 North 300 West Cedar City, Utah 84720 Russt@mountainwest.net Rusty & Susan Galetka
A place I could gather my own, or pick a few pieces would be great. Because they will be turning on a lathe, fracture free as much as possible is desired.

4corners, You can come down and dig Alabaster if you would like. I think you are better off looking around the Cuba area for BLM land. There is Alabaster in San Miguel area and also in Galina, that is a lot closer for you. Also check out the Cuba mesa area, there is a ton of Petrified wood there. You should find Cuba Mesa on a map. I am not sure how far in the wood is my Parents have been there not me.

Hey -- we found a great alabaster site in our trip to Cisco/Yellow cat last week.
It is on exit 175...drive 6.8 miles south and head west...about 6 miles...the red hill on the side have onyx, alabaster, and other cool stuff.
