Well I got some time to cab over the last two weekends. These are the results, some good, some just so-so. Unknown from Jamie. This is pretty soft stuff but takes a nice shine. I think this is spiderweb jasper. It has lots of pits so I didn't put much effort into it. I doubt I will cab anymore of it. The tumblers are always hungry anyway. Something with polka dots, maybe Montana? Pietersite. This one didn't get as shiny as the others I have done. Don't know why since its all from the same piece. Picture jasper. This stuff was pretty shiny when it came off of the 400 grit wheel. The picture does not do it justice. My first pet wood cab. Not really sure. Orbicular rhyolite maybe. I need to start putting these on a dark background to photo. Onyx maybe. Its pretty translucent. Just missed centering the green though. It took a super shine. Morrisonite from Shain at freeformcabs. Stellar rock in my opinion and my fav of the group. A laker I got from snowdog last year. Dendritic somethingorother, maybe jasper? Carnelian. I rescued this one from the tumbler, it was just too pretty. My daughter claimed this one as soon as she saw it. A bot. Picture came out brown but its really grey. Thanks for looking.

Great batch! I like the white one with the orbs best and it's probably Keegan Ranch Tube Agate from oregon with the cut across the tubes....Mel

The green is a green onyx; it came out real nice. The carnelian really pops out; I can see why your daughter claimed it. The pet wood looks like a camp fire scene to me the fire up close; really cool. The picture jasper came out real nice as well.

I love your polka-dots. I got a piece of that in the box I bought from cutter. I'm sure you're thrilled with the green onyx, seeing as how you're a big fan of green! I think I've seen your dendritic listed as dendritic opal - or something a lot like it.
Beautiful work!

Really nice group, Tony. Glad to see you able to do bunches Love your shapes, and the stuff you used them on. Like that maybe onyx shape and love the picture jasper. I can tell it is nice stuff... and, yeah, you need to get better shots to show them off. I use the sun 'cause it gives me the depth.., and shooting on black has really helped, particularly the opals. Thanks for the compliments. Mel, I'm not sure this is agate, it was pretty soft, definitely not harder than 6. Larry, green onyx, got it, I love this stuff and have several more from the slab I got. Amy, I was thinking it might be opal when I bought it but its too hard for opal. Unfortunately I didn't do a scratch test before I cabbed it. Tony, I prefer to take pics in the sun too but since I need to borrow a camera now I have to take them when I can. I will start using a dark background for light stones though.

Tony - dendritic opal is about a 6.5-7 on the Moh's scale. I've never been sure why precious opal was so much softer then common opal.
I really love the Montana and the dendritic opal!

i think that second one is chrysanthemum jasper, spider jasper is blacker and redder. Sands had some killer cabs out of the Chrysanthemum in a "name that cab" contest quite a long time ago. i remember, cuz i won it...hehe.
i agree with Arkansan, that nice yellow number in the 11th pic is dendritic opal. very nice cut there.
keep'em coming, Tony!

Cool shapes and great cabs once again Tony. Another name for the second one is starburst jasper. Looks like you're getting the hang of this cabbing thing.
