A gentleman called me last night and said he was moving into town and had a bunch of rocks at his farm, that his father had collected over the years. He had heard I was into rocks so wanted to know if I was interested in buying the whole pile? I went out to look at them this morning and after some discussion and haggling, I ended up hauling all of them home. I got about 2 tons of rocks. Mostly pet wood (about 90%), with some agates and jaspers mixed in. I need to sell some of these to finish paying off the old gentleman, so if anyone is interested in some, just let me know. The sizes range anywhere from 250 pound pieces to tumbler size, with about every size in between. These were mostly collected back when the collecting was plentiful, so there is some really nice stuff in there. Here is a picture of the first load ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul001Medium.jpg) The piece in the upper left corner is at least 250 pounds. The gentleman told me that the long piece in the center is a piece of petrified redwood that was blasted off of a stump that was 6 foot across, and it weighs in the 150-200 pound neighborhood. ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul002Medium.jpg) bins full of lots of cutting material ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul004Medium.jpg) Second load after I dumped it (I forgot to take a picture of it in the truck) ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul006Medium.jpg) Last load of mostly workforce sized pieces and tumbler pieces. ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul007Medium.jpg) The whole pile after it was moved over to my shop ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/petwoodhaul008Medium.jpg) All in all it was a good day to be playing with rocks! Congratz on the Buy! Looks like you'll be sorting thru all the goodies for a while. I'd love to see some close-ups eventually. Any banded agates?? One more thing...good thing you bought that wet grinder. Looks like it will definitely come in handy Steve

Hey Steve, There are quite a few waterline agates, I tried to sort them into a separate bucket, but my buddy who helped me load all the rocks just threw them in anywhere, so they really didn't get sorted out. I will try to get some out for pictures, some really cool stuff in there! I will be putting some closeups in the Buy Sell and Swap section shortly.
And yes I think it is a pretty good SCORE!

I don't think you need anymore rocks, you have too many already. If you need to get rid of them I can give you my addy. lol Seriously, a really nice haul. I'll be keeping an eye on the for sale section.

Very impressive! There are some museum pieces among them. Even your hungry saw has to be scared to see that huge pile ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Adrian
