here are some cabs i've finished recently, first up is a cab from some material Steve Holmes sent, a few different shots: and with a flash: and backlit: amazing stuff, thanks, Steve! here is a petrified algae (i think): and another blue-plumey from material Cher sent me: here is a small carasite, that is not a fracture down the center, but the effect wasn't as startling as i'd hoped: a large (30x22mm) petrified wood: and a diminutive (13 x 18mm) piece of seraphinite that Stoner sent me: thanks for looking! All great cabs but that rock from Steve is just wild. Your missing the seraphinite photo. Love that stuff.

Sure KD, make it sound like I sent you a diminutive piece of seraphanite! ;D ;D ;D Nice job on the puny cab though!!! ;D I like the first one, did Steve say what it is?

eek, sorry Stoner, didn't want to make it sound like you were a cheap date.....you were actually quite generous with the seraphinite as Cher can attest to due to her birthday present. there, hope that put the record straight.....
tonyterner, the photo of the seraphinite shows up on my 'puter....anyone else having trouble seeing it??
thanks Tweet, i thought the piece of carasite was going to be more....well...more dynamic, but NOT.
and no, if Steve told me what that stuff was, i spaced it....pretty tho, eh?

KD...I could be wrong but that first cab sure looks like Carey Moss.

I would think the first cab is red moss from a Richardson's Ranch thunder egg. The opaque, dull olive patch resembles a section of the outer part of a thunder egg, maybe??? Those are really impressive cabs. Is seraphinite soft? Is it hard to get a polish on? I've avoided the material thinking it might be a bit of a problem to work with. Bob

Sweeeet cabs KD! I love that Carrasite one...really nice. You do a fantastic job on your domes. Do you use a dop stick?? It feels good to see some of my material cabbed up...and actually one of the favs of a few people. I don't know what it was...that was a long time ago. Wish I could help...but if i had to go out on a limb; I'd almost want to agree with Bobby. Thanks for sharing. Steve

Awesome cabs KD. I'm leaning towards the blue plumey. Sweet patterns. Steve

I really like that Carrasite! And I have a soft spot for the seraphanite as well. There's just something about that stone...
Bobby1 - it's soft. It's melt on your wheels soft. But it polishes beautifully!

That is some great stuff, KD! It all has kind of a clouds motif, somehow. Love that stuff you got from Steve. When I get stuff from Steve I just go nuts 'cause his tastes and mine just click somehow. I always get stuff I really like in a box from Mr. Holmes. T

Yup...I agree now with Bob on the RR i.d.! I pulled out both RR & Carey that I had tumbled & I see the olive matrix! Plus...Carey isn't that dense with the plumy moss stuff. (like my scientific descriptions? LOL)
