I got this off the 50 cent pile I have been shopping on for folks. (Here is what I got this morning to fill two boxes requested: s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb114/deb193/rough/07Jun/) THis one chunk does not exactly look like wood, and is not chalky, and seems hard, but not as hard as some jaspers. The redish-brown is almost wine or purple and the green is a misty-mint. The rock is about 18lbs. THere is a big crack or two, so I will break it into about 3 chunks. I need to play with cutting across the color layers to get stripes or cutting almost with the layers to get clouds.

I thought about Gary Green. When it gets softer colors like this, it usually gets a bit chalky. ALso, I have never see GG break like this where it almost looks like a weathered piece of wood.
But I would be real pleased if it took a polish as well as GG.
