I got about 18 lbs of 150 sc 10 lbs of 280 sc 5 lbs of 220 sc from a local shop that *spilled* it on the floor I'm pretty new to this whole rock tumbling thing but I was wondering how much I could use of this, because I've never seen these grades before. Should I just try to use them all for my medium polishing? Or would these work for coarse as well? Thanks, Russell

If they are graded grits keep them separate and use as step two. Most people use cheaper mixed grade grits 120/220 for step 2. You may notice a difference from one to the next but I doubt it. All will be broken down after a week to something like 500-600. Since it was free you could mix the 150 and 280 and call it "ungraded 220". None would be as coarse as a step one grit (usually 60/90 or 80).

I didn't think I could use these for my coarse cycles. Yeah, these are graded as shown, they didn't have anything coarser at the time but I might be able to get some 80.
Oh well guess I have a good supply of medium polish?
Thanks, Russell

yeah, I tried to buy some from the place but I do work for them on their computers often and they would not sell it to me, so they "spilled it on the floor" for me. That being said, it never actually touched the floor.

I hope you're a young guy, Russell, cause that's enough stage 2 grit to last a couple of lifetimes. ;D ;D
Or maybe you got six 12-pounders rolling.

Haha, yeah... All I've got is a Thumler ar-2 (2x 3lb barrels) and an old raytech that i have no idea how to use, but I am only 21 so I have plenty of time to experiment. =)

The 150 would work for step one in the Raytech
