This old girl was getting tired. The motor was loosing it's oomph so I replaced it. I'm one of those types to make use of whatever's around. Instead of buying a new motor, I used one out of the downstairs bathroom fan. We had it unplugged anyway becuse it made a lot of noise under the stairs. I found an old pulley from a CE tumbler, put it all together and whamo, new tumbler! Here's the rebuild: ![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f240/rocklicker/Kitchen2129.jpg) And... It works! Here is is with a new batch of varoius quartzes (rose, amy, smokey). It feels right at home with the other tumblers. Look at her roll! ![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f240/rocklicker/th_Kitchen2133.jpg) Steve

As long as the rpm's are the same and h.p. (usually expressed in current draw on that type motor) is the same or a little higher it should work fine. Lortone buys their motors from someone.

I timed the barrel speed and it's really close to that of the Lortones. The motor was rated at .65A. I did a little spin test with the older and newer motor by grabbing the shafts with my fingers to see how strong they were. It was defenetly stronger and the barrel didn;t slow down when I aplied a little preassure. No I just hope my wife doesn't notice that we have no bathroom fan in the half bath ;D Steve

Similar motors can be found in older large microwave ovens also (the larger the better).
