I recieved these from the fellow who I bought the Genie from. Any Help ID'ing would be so much appreciated! This one is really neat. Purples with green spots. Very Interesting Not sure but my guess is Morrisonite. But I've never had a piece to compare so who knows. He called this green Owyhee...but I've never heard of that before. I really like this one too. THANKS for any Help! Steve

Well Steve...all 3 of those slabs are saweet! But I don't think ya got Morrisonite. I have not seen any (good or bad) that resembles your specimen. But I sure as all get out wouldn't turn my nose at ANY of them! LOL

Howdy Steve, Man you sure post some tough ones. I suspect the first example might be fluorite which sometimes comes in a form that has almost travertine-like banding. Your specimen is probably cut parallel to the direction of the banding. The second example looks very much like some of the Haystack Butte Jasper ( Jellybean Jasper) I've seen but also resembles a type called Halloween Jasper. I think all come from the same area in the Idaho/Oregon border region. Haystack and Jellybean are the same stuff and maybe the third name is for the same jasper too. The final green example is a new one on me....Mel

Thanks Mel...and everyone else too. When I first read the Flourite possibility, I was uncertain. I went out and licked the slab again, and thought maybe it is. I didn't know flourite could come in the form you decribed. I'm gonna take your word on the 2nd. no ideas on the 3rd???!!! C'mon Mel...you have a wealth of knowledge in that brain of yours. Dig Deeper!! LOL! :^))) Maybe I'll have to get a better pic of it. Steve

Howdy Steve, Boy I went through my notebooks from stem to stern looking for that green one with no luck. Lots of greens from the area and sometimes you get a different look from different parts of the slab but none had that overall light green on green look. Only thing even close were some pics of some portions of Oregon's Desert Queen Jasper or some of the Gary Green examples, but still not a match. I'd almost agree it looks closer to some of the light green Morrisonite slabs I've seen. You've got me stumped.....Mel

The first one looks like Charoite without as much purple as usual. Bob

The green one reminds me of something Lady B sent me as part of my "Poetry of Images" prize. I'll see if I can find her notes. (digging around in my garage) She called it lizard stone. Hmmm, went to www.greatslabs.com/slabs_lizard_stone.shtmlWhat do you think? Amy

I looked up a lizard stone in my notebook and it looks pretty similar. We have one here in California that is called lizardstone or frogstone but it's a serpentine that looks just like birdseye serpentine to me. I think maybe Amy has nailed it except if it's from the Owyhees it's a new location for this material as the one I have listed is an Arizona material....Mel

Glad I could supply a possible ID! Whatever it is, it's really pretty. We've got some members on this board who really love green, maybe they have some already and can give confirmation.
