Let us no when you get it. I would like to get a Vibo but I here it is loud as I live in an apartment. I could set it up at my job if it is not to loud. I work for Friendswood Animal Control and if the Vibo is not to loud I dont think the animals would minde. hehehe
Have fun with your new Vibo.

Roger: I have a "10#" [it actually holds up to about 15] Gy-Roc,sold by Tagit, that I have rjun in aparments fof 12 years that is quite quiet. The trick is that you have to load it right to the top.Other vibes call for a partial load- this creates louder banging and air space to carry the sound.Lottos are also hummers, not bangers.Mike.

Are we allowed to say hummers and bangers here?

My Gy-Roc, even when full, was sometimes so loud that I would get out of bed, go down to the basement, and shut it off.
If I set it on low, and did NOT load it to the top, the sound was managable.
I can't speak to the UV-10, but the Lot-O is wisper quiet.

I have a UV-10, and I run it on a piece of carpet in a closed closet, and it is not loud whatsoever. There is no banging like in a rotary, more of a steady buzz. ( Like my weekends. the noise it makes is easily muffled by setting it up so that it is enclosed, just dont do anything that would overheat the motor. Happy tumbles.

Got the tumbler today and had it filled within 15 minutes of opening the box. I had a 15 lb'er done at stage 3 so I put most of it in the UT with 7-8 tblsp of AO polish- hope that was close to 3 oz. I have a nice white coating on the rock. Don't think there is any standing water in the barrel.
It's noisier than my 4 rotary tumblers combined. If I guess in DBs, I'd say 65-70. Quiet talking is in the range of 55-60. It's staying in my basement.
I'll let youse know in a couple days how things turned out (with photos).

Lee, make sure you have it packed absolutely full with a range of material sizes. I have a UV-18 and the fuller it is, the quieter it is.
I fill mine full, turn it on, and fill it some more.
The other reason for running it full is that you get better movement. If it's not full enough, the rocks bang against each other more than they churn and the rocks never polish.
I spoke to the man who manufactures the Thumlers and that was his advice.
Hope that helps, Chuck

Thanks for the tip. I had 2 - 3lb barrels rolling - polish - Cleaned them and put them in the vibe. Still had a little room in the vibe but nothing to put in it to polish. Everything will be done tomorrow afternoon, then a couple hours in borax and I'll take pictures.
BTW, the UT-10 didn't quiet noticeably. Maybe I have to fill it so the rock rubs the lid.?
