edit: thanks to mel for the ID I took this pebble to the rock shop in Houghton, Michigan and they told me it was from somewhere in Austrailia. However, I found this pebble on a beach near Copper Harbor, Michigan and they said that it was possible that someone "salted the beach" there. The above two were taken wet, These two dry Is there any merit to this story, or have I found something possibly local? Thanks again, Russell

Nah, lots of folks make that mistake. Y'all have a couple of local chatoyant materials known as Binghamite and silkstone which some folks think is Aussie Marra mamba or tiger iron. Looks like you've found a Binghamite pebble...Mel
