I'm having trouble with my Thumler's Tumbler in that the barrel will not roll on the shafts. Before I place the barrel on to the shafts they spin well, but as soon as I put it on it will not roll. It's like the weight of it causes it to stop. I've tried changing the band several times but that doesn't help. I've tried oiling it to. Sometimes the little pulley that's on the motor continues to spin. It's like as if there is no traction between the band and the pulley. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Condor

Sounds like the belt is slipping. The only place to oil is where the shafts turn in the bearings. I would clean the pulleys if you put oil on them. Install a correct drive belt. The belt should fit fairly snug. Also make sure the pulleys are secured.

You can lightly sand the belt, you can also spray it with belt treatment form Auto Zone. Any possibility barrel iis too heavy? ALso, motor may be slowly failing.

Does the little pulley on the motor always spin or just sometimes? If always, it of sounds like the belt is too loose or has oil on it. If it stops the motor too sometimes its sticking somewhere maybe the bearings/bushings whatever it has. Or the motor is going. If you have it loaded (barrel on) try turning the big pulley by hand with the belt off. It should spin fairly easily. If it does spin easy its probably the motor if it spins hard its bushings/bearings.

Everytime that happens to me, it means that I somehow got some oil on the drive pulley, which then also transfered oil on to the driven pulley. I take the belt off and spray the pulleys down with carb cleaner and wash the belt with soap and water in the kitchen sink. After my wife yells at me for making a mess, I put it all back together and it usually works again.
Good luck with it.................Tony
