Well there was a sunday this past weekend so of course I spent some of it cabbing. I will spend the entire coming weekend cabbing but then I wont be able to do any for a while. I will be moving the rock shop to my new apartment. The place comes with the a full basement so I should have plenty of room for rocks. I've been really struggling with my photos. I built a diffuser box but the photos seem even worse now. Its the only part of cabbing that I don't like. Little turquoise blobs. Got the turq from stonesthatrock. Sugilite. This picture doesn't do the color justice. The purple was a little porous so it didn't shine up as much as I would have liked. Rhyolite, also from stonesthatrock. This stuff is really really porous and wouldn't shine up at all. I have several slabs and it all has great patterning. If I treat it with superglue will I be able to get it to shine? Poppy jasper from redwoodrocks. Do you see Mickey Mouse? Lapis. Green moss freeform from snowdog. Shame the material is pitted. Back lit. Boulder opal. I couldn't get the color to pop in the photo. This one is a joint effort between weeshan and myself. She shaped it and started the dome, then I finished doming it and polished it. The shine is out of this world. Wish I could get that on all my cabs. Thanks for looking.

Nice set of cabs. The last BO is my favorite. I love to work that green moss too and have experienced the same problem you've mentioned. It often tends to have tiny crystal vugs and everywhere you cut across a moss filament, there seems to be a pit. Even with the defects though, it's still one of my favorite materials. Love that seaweed in water look!.....Mel

The bird's eye, the lapis, the moss, the poppy, all of them are my favs. I didn't count the BO among them just because I suspect the shine comes from some laquer ;D

Thanks all. As usual I had a blast making them. Adrian, there is no lacquer or finish on the B.O. Hard to believe but true. Tony, I'm not using them right now because I never got them fully set up. I'll work on that soon.
