Hi, all. My true circle belt is not getting the job done, and I have diamonded up a fabric belt and gone on. Is the manufactured belt useless now, at it's grit level (1200) or can it be re diamonded? It has that glossy plastic/glue whatever surface that is worn off, but not completely. I figure the worn parts would hold diamond, but I hate to waste any if the glossy part won't won't hold paste or powder. What do you think?
And second... I'm looking for a foam/composit backing pad for my leather pads that is left hand threaded with a 1/4 inch 20 thread screw back. I'm not having any luck so far. Any help appreciated if anyone has seen such a thing. Many thanks, Tony

I have heard of all wood wheels and leather and those hold the paste fine. I am guess the shiny surface wouldn't hold the paste very well.

I use to carry resin belts for loading with diamond. They were pretty slick surfaced as I recall. The problem would be (depending on belt size) you may use a lot of diamond compound to load it up. I'd try diamond powder (cheaper in 1200 grit) and mix with olive oil or silicon extender. Good luck

Hey Tony. The important thing is to just make sure the belt itself is solid and not about to fall apart at the seam. If it's in good shape, just scuff the surface and mix some powder in epoxy and apply it to the belt. For the foam backing, you can use an old mouse pad.

Thanks, ya'll! I loved this belt and hate to lay it down. I might try the epoxy thing. Get some extra powder the next time I order some and give it a try. I was hoping I could just powder it up the way it is now and get back to work Ed- It isn't the foam I need it is the screw back backing plate I need in a left hand thread. I have now and can get all the right hand thread backing plates I want. I guess I'll have to get a tap and die and make some kind of adapter. Thanks, anyway. T
