Rockcandy, If you find a bunch and want to unload it, I'm here One of the large rough pieces of amber I bought had an embedded mosquito under the matrix. Well, half a mosquito. All the wings and legs are there and it looks pretty cool. I'm hoping most of it survives. I'm at the 1000g AO stage and so far it's staying put. I'm going to try a walnut shell/red rouge tumble as a final polish for the amber and copal. Hoping that will do the trick. Hey I will let you know if I find any! Actually I am so sick of mosquitoes this summer (Wisconsinite), that I would rather have NO bugs in my rocks

No bugs is great. Actually, it's amber sans bugs that I want since I'll be cutting it up to tumble tiny.

Okay, here's the amber/copal as it is right now. I have not dry vibed it in walnut and rouge yet: And, a FLY! or mosquito, or something, showed up. Bottom left of the big piece: Eileen

Heh. Okay, I did the dry vibe with walnut and rouge. *snort*
The amber: no real change in the shine and rouge got stuck in the cracks. I think I *might* try walnut charged with AO, wet or something, dunno. Might let sleeping bugs lie with that.
The copal. HAHAHAHAHAH! If anyone ever wants to create a very light, red jasper type of pseudo-rock, just dry tumble copal in rouge.
I am not kidding. Every piece was red and it does NOT come off. I have all the copal back in the tumbler with some serpentine and 220 grit. It's been 12 hours and the layers of rouge are finally off the copal, however they are now a dingy brown color instead of the greenish-yellow. Looks like the rouge permanently dyed the copal. Oops! Heh.
In summary:
I could vibe tumble amber very nicely just using Connrock's recipe. I could not get any sort of finish on copal in a vibe.

Bummer.
Any idea the grit equivalent of the rouge?
Dry AO would just fall to the bottom. You could dampen things with something other than water. I think they use a light oil and solvent in the formula for RayTech VibraDry polishes. I've had mixed reports on those however.

Hrm, dunno what the grit is. It's pretty darn fine. Got it from TheRockShed.
What would oil do to the vibe barrel, if anything? I'm not sure what they are made out of, but I know that some oils will eat into rubber.
Would water not work at all or would the walnut just suck it all up and expand?
