wow, no such thing as bad rocks! have you run them through a burnish cycle with just Borax, pellets and water? it may suck some of the polish lodged in the divits out so they aren't so noticeable. looks like you have some fine looking pieces in there, even some OJ? don't give up, try 6-8 hours in a wash cycle. and iffin' that don't work, i've just opened up a shelter for wayward and homeless rocks, send them my way.... You have some very nice material in there - the OJ & dino bone especially. The problem with them though is that they do have soft areas & don't always tumble well. I'd suggest making cabs out of them on a Genie, or similar polisher. Also, if there isn't enough cushioning in the barrel, they'll bang together too much & chip. Be sure to add enough plastic pellets to fill the space well, about 3/4 full. Good luck!

Actually, they look very good in the photos. Maybe those white spots are trapped polish in pits?... in the photos it looks like they might just be some white quartz inclusions, which would add a nice highlight. -Don

Sounds like you and I have the same amount of patience, and that's not meant as a compliment! I actually have a 'bad rock' bucket, some of those guys that I've tried everything on, and they just won't come around--off they go to the bucket. So if you figure out a use for those, let me know Actually Jim, I didn't think they looked that bad----? Nona

Not bad at al! I like a lot of them, and the square OJ is my favorite.

I have had some stones do that so what I do is I just toss a couple of the "bad" stones in with a new batch. I have had alot of good luck with that. Also since some stones polish better with CO polish and other with AO polish I literally put half AO and half CO in my polish and I now rarely have any problems with my stones not coming out polished.
