Hi all. I joined a few weeks ago & decided that it's about time I introduced myself. My name is Don & I used to tumble rocks when I was younger (about 35-40 years ago!) I saw this board several years ago & have enjoyed the passion & love of all things rocks that goes on here. I am finally about to start tumbling again. I've never stopped picking up interesting looking rocks whenever I'm out & about, so I have quite a lot of local stuff. I never realized though, the incredible variety of rocks that I have seen on these boards! My stuff is pretty much run of the mill local stuff, although nice, nothing spectacular.
I have an interest in wire wrapping, there are so many beautiful wraps that I have seen here. It looks hard, but I would like to try & see where it leads.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I know everyone LOVES pictures, so when I get something to show I will post.
Don

Welcome to the board. If your experience is like mine you are going to have a blast with the board. I have already gone in two trips with members of this board...my collection of rocks went from a handful to more than I can store in my backyard. If you ever decide you want to trade rocks from NY, let me know I can get you rocks from the West coast including Utah, Oregon, CA and AZ. Ozzy H. Orem, UT Good luck and welcome

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Rockwiz, if I ever trade rocks it would be a lopsided trade, I'm afraid. Most of my collection are already smoothed/rounded beach stones. Others were from cliff deposits left by glaciers etc. I am not up at all on rock/mineral ID's, except we have a lot of granite around here. Thanks for the offer! Don

Welcome to the forum. Some of those "local rocks" are exotic out of the area. I'd like to see pictures of the glacial deposited stuff especially.
