That fire agate came out super. The close up shot is cool. I think you frame it well too.

Nice job on all of them, Tony! That fire agate came out awesome. How is the material to work? That's one I've got to give a try one of these days.

Okay...Lady B is back! I see some real beauties here BUT I see some hidden pix, too!!
The fire agate looks like a primeval collision of fiery worlds!! How beautiful! The Unk - almost had to look that one up in my Funk and Wagnall's until it dawned on me what an Unk was - looks like an overview of the San Andreas - getting wider all the time.
If you rotate the Koroit 90 degrees to the right, you can see a beautiful Canadian Goose in streamlined flight heading west. And there's a croc hiding at the top of that gorgeous Crazy Lace!
I am really impressed by that beautiful self-collected quartz! I never knew stones could collect themselves! Must be so nice to have the stones do all the work!! ;D
And then there is that magnificent Turritulla!!! WOW! That could be in one of those Nature's Hidden Pictures Books! I see a Koala Bear, Rolly-Polies, a happy Crow, and a Picasso-esque lady wearing a plumed hat! And if I look some more I'm certain I will find more hidden images!
What a treat to look at all of your beauties!! It's defintely a "two-fer" showing!! - Beauty in the polished cabs, courtesy of Tony, and hidden images in the stones, courtesy of Mother Earth!!!
Lady B is back and glad to be here!!! ;D Thanks for such a treat!!

Thanks, all! The fire is difficult to chase but like opal it seems alive in there when you find it. I'm such a sucker for sparks and flashes in rocks Titania- Ed has experience with fire agate and he told me a good way to start out is with faced/windowed rough, and he is right. The fire seems to be laid down all higgeldy/piggeldy and getting enough contiguous fires isn't easy.... there always seems to be a chalcedony bridge between fire areas. I think windowed rough would be the best way to spend wisely. And like opal you need to grind a little and look a lot. Try it.. it's fun! B!!!... my puppies aren't crying anymore and we are all laughing now I can't find the happy crow, but I did see Cartman in profile with a bear cubs head in place of his... near the top of the turritulla, lol. Collecting around here in summer is great because you just drive up a dirt road beside a clear cut and put out buckets every few hundred feet. When you come back around the rocks have collected themselves in the buckets and you just load 'em up! Clear cuts are full of snakes this time of year so staying in the car is the way to go Glad your back! And you're right about the opal... it looks better on it's side! Tony

Hey, Brian! Thanks for the ident. I was with Curt thinking it might be a wood, but it did cut more like a jasper than something agatized. Honey jasper...well, I like the name and the stone T

The Koroit is last?? You must be getting Opal burn out like me. I did a couple the other day but didn't take photos but gave them out as gifts.
I too like to work Turritulla and fire of agate, nice stuff. Excellent workmanship on the cabs.

Jeremy... Stoner is the one to ask about fire agate. I got some rough from the board a few months back in buy, sell, trade, but I think Ed and I got most all of it, and I find it hard to chase the fire in raw rough I got... mostly small stuff. I wish I'd learned to work it on windowed stuff first.... and with bigger fire areas. Tony.... Tony T and Ed were kind of making fun of my "little opal problem" last week so I was just trying to show some versitility That just means the opals are piling up.. so you'll be seeing them soon. Thanks for your compliments... now post some so I can hit you back! T
