Whew. I became obsessed! I was up until 3:30 am last night, and picked it up first thing this morning. I bought the Woven Sculpture Tutorial by Remy www.studioheath.com/tute003.php and bought some craft wire and of course, in short order, deviated from her excellent instructions and learned the techniques to make this: It uses a Ocean Jasper cab, a gemmy Rhodochrysite cab, and a small jade commercial cab I found amongst my beads. Also sterling beads, freshwater pearls, and 1/2 a sterling clasp (aka lizard). I used 20 gauge and 26 gauge craft wire, and some gold plated 26 gauge copper wire. Took me about 8-10 hours for the wrapping along. The next one, I would definitely purchase the 16 gauge for the base, 20 g. was too flimsy. (The tutorial asks for 18 gauge.) Who da thunk I could do it? And it was FUN!!! Thanks for looking.

Ha! YES, Tweetiepy, here's a pic of the back. I thought it might be asked of me! I didn't keep track of how much wire, but approximately 8" for the frame, 80" of the 20 gauge for the core wires, and maybe 7-10 yards of the 26 gauge?? That's really guesstamating though... My fingers don't hurt, Turq. I'm thinking I need to get a hand drill for some of the coiling, but I just used my pin vise, and rolled it against my thigh. Most really is done on the piece, and must be done by 'fingers'. I really think the craft wire is softer and kinder than sterling. And I like the look! So I may go with colored copper for awhile, until prompted design wise to go all sterling or gold filled. ($$$ ouch!)

Oh girl this is absolutely wonderful, and I mean it! Whe I made my first piece of it, I didn't want to share it with anyone (it was that bad, lol). Love the combination of copper with the stones and the silver there. Thanks for also sharing the back, yep, I recognise the backing Remy used there. You gave me the incentive to try another one

I really like this, really beautiful. For the first time doing all that weaving you did a great job keeping the weaves even!! I love the stones and I'm addicted to the Artistic Wire! That was a good tutorial wasn't it? Definitely worth the $.
