I got to the point that I was interested in nothing.......not even rocks, but I'm back at it and you guys are going to have to put up with my cabs again. ;D The glare nearly ate me up in these photos. Am I never going to learn how to take good photos? Ghost Wood Picture Jasper from Ronda Plume from Ronda Thanks fer lookin' Curt

Glad to hear you are back working on some rocks, gets the old blood flowing. Photo's look good, except for a little glare. How about a light box? Keep up the great work.

NICE Cabs, Curt!! Great to see them and to read you are getting back into mischief. The glare is probably because you are taking the pix dead-on. Try focusing just to the right of the cabs (if your primary light source is to the left). You can always crop the image once the pic is uploaded. The black backdrop should absorb extra light unless it is a shiny surface itself. Using a black matte (photographer's artboard) or a soft black cloth should increase the amount of light absorbed and thus reduce the amount of glare flared back at the viewer. Another reason you have so much glare - You are just too darn good at bringing your cabs to a high shine level!!! ;D Lady B

Neat stuff! Try taping a bit of tissue paper over your light source, or build/buy a little light tent, easy fix for the glare problem. Use anything that will gently diffuse the light.

I don't mind putting up with your cabs. They're so good. We want more.

Thanks for the comments and photo tips guys!
The weird thing is, I am using a light box and I still get that stupid glare. I guess my cabs are just too shiny to photograph. ;D
Seriously, I have noticed that if you hold the cab in your hand outside and tilt it slightly away from you it reduces the glare a lot. Gonna try tilting the cab away in my light box.

Hey Curt, great looking cabs. I found that if I wanted to reduce the glare when taking photos....a couple hours tumble in 120 grit does the trick Lee
