Right now all I can call it is butt ugly ;D Is it some kind of jasper? I can't stand the sight of it, I find the colors so ugly on it I uploaded a second pic as well to show that it took a shine, but the first shows the colors better. Ugly or not, this is my fourth cab ;D Marika

I'd say Quartzite...but I could definitely be wrong.

I honestly happen to disagree with you. I think it is quite lovely and I like the soft pastel colors. I bet it would look great wrapped in gold. Nice work on the shine! Double kudos for finishing something you don't like ;D

I give you TWO THUMBS UP for finishing something that you didn't like. I've got several cabs on dop sticks that after I started doing them, I had to quit. They just didn't look like as I had pictured in my mind. You did a Fantastic Job on your 4th cab. You must be lovin' that new machine. Steve

Actually, that's one very nice looking cab Marika. I'd guess jasper too. Even looks a bit like many of our US Jasper/agates/flint ie Savannah River or Hector Hills. Always interesting how similar geologic conditions create similar materials in many different countries.....Mel

I don't know what the heck it is either, Marika, but if it's from builtonrock or myself it could be from just about anywhere. I've received boxes from all over the US, and couldn't identify all that I sent you.
Any chance it could be Mozarkite?

No clue Amy, on this particular one I'm not even sure if it's from you or from around here somewhere From the way it looks, it might be some junk from around here

Sure looks nice! I don't think it's ugly at all! Nice job on the cabbing. I can't imagine making a cab on a hoprizontal machine, but it looks like you figured it out right away! I vote some kind of jasper or chert. Steve

mel and steve touched on what i was thinking....im pretty sure its savannah river chert....since that is my back yard material...i have cut and tumbled a lot of it...it has the typical rust coloring in white and maroonish pinkish details i see all the time....i usually throw the rust colored stuff back in the pile...only cut some of it to look for fossils.
but like mel said.... it could very well be just a really similar piece....i say definitely chert....and 98 percent sure its savannah river material....kev.
