The town of Hull in MA put up two wind turbines. Hull is right on the coast so the wind is usually kicking up. One powers the High School and then some. There was a home owner in my town who put one up. It was working really well until they made him take it down. Something about not getting a permit. He couldn't get a permit anyway as the town does not allow windmills. I

On the subject of power not politics I have to wonder how we powered a ship to Mars and others beyond. Solar? Bussard collectors picking up free hydrogen from space? Nuclear? I have not been able to find out for sure. Any answers out there? MrP- question. I have a roof that is southern facing. I have been told by 2 solar panel installation companies that I can (with the proper panels) have free electricity and feed the excess back into the grid and that the meters would actually run backwards. Any truth to that? Dave. I think there are a number of space engines but one that caught my eye was the Ion Plasma Thruster. I personally don't believe that there is one single alternative energy generator that will work well in all areas of the US. In my particular neck of the woods wind, solar and water are all very poor alternatives. The one area that does really help here is geothermal. When heating in the winter you will get the 1rst 50 degrees nearly free and when cooling in the summer you get 50 degree air for nearly free. This is one area that has payed for itself. Everyone will need to figure out what your region can produce best. Some areas will need to stick with standard energy production methods.

While I'm with Chassroc because I believe that if you'll lie about one thing, you'll probably lie about another - I agree whole heartedly that we must get off of our oil addiction. Not sure if Mr Pickens has the right plan, but we must find a way forward sooner rather than later. My plan is to take charge of what I can and drive less, heat and cool less, reduce, reuse and recycle, buy less and be as gentle to the earth as I can. Peace friends, MaryAnn
