HI, I really want to get into rock hunting after I got ahold of some uncut emeralds, but I dont have any clue on were to start or how. I live in Port Orchard , WA and i need some tips on were to start looking. Now I have a truck so travel is an option. Im really into crystal formations such as geodes. So does anyone have some tips and maybe some locations?

The Kitsap Gem and Mineral club is quite active, and has field trips every month. We have a trip this week-end to Red Top near Cle Elum. We will meet Saturday morning at the Twenty Nine Pines campground on the North Fork of the Teanaway River. Red Top is noted for its crystal filled geodes, and nodules. A lot of us will be camping the week-end at Twenty Nine Pines. The field trip in September will be to Little Naches for agate/jasper filled geodes. Membership is only ten dollars per year. If you would like to join us this week-end, you are welcome. To get there, take I-90 to Cle Elum, then 97 toward Blewit Pass for about five miles to the Teanaway River road. Go to the North Fork and the campground is about 14 miles, all paved road. We have a small blue and white pop-up, and a blue F150 pickup. Woody
