Pink opal. At least I think its opal, I'm not really good at identifying it. The rock was definitely softer than agate. Another from the $4 a pound bin.
Poppy jasper. Again I'm not positive of this one so if you have any ideas as to its please ID let me know.
Royal velvet obsidian. Hard to capture the color in a photo. Its a shame the color only shows up in direct sunlight. I see some scratches that need to be removed.
Siberian jade. This is my favorite out of the group. This stuff is hard. I mean really hard, much harder than anything else I've worked. I wasn't sure if my saw would ever get through the slab. Another gift from Stoner, he's such a sweetheart. (that's my friends word for him, I rarely call men sweetheart) lol
Silver creek jasper. This is self collected and named. There aren't many rocks worth cabbing in PA but I have found this small creek and it seems to have some worthy stuff in it. The hills surrounding it are in what's called the New England formation. This is the same formation that encompass the mines in Sterling and Franklin NJ, famous for their fluorescent minerals.
Silver creek idontknowite. Not as nice a material as the previous one. Very pitty. I don't think I'll try any more of this material.
Unknown. I don't even know where I got this piece. Darn poor memory.
Snowflake obsidian. This is the biggest cab I've ever made, about 2" long.
Unknown. I have no idea what this is but I really like it. Someone on another group suggested it was wood but I'm not sold on that. Any ideas?
Thanks for looking.
