Isn't this the same type of rock from which you tumbled a larger piece, one of the most beautiful tumbled rocks that I've ever seen? (You posted it a while ago)

As for where to get Stone Canyon jasper (sometimes called S.C. agate), maybe our California residents could chime in on some good local rock shops or other sources?
I've just bought it off ebay -- Woodsicle, and Ron's Rocks have been my most frequent sources. But I've got a few chunks from other sellers too, you just have to do some searching. Avoid the SC jasper with the black streaks in it... in my experience that is softer material that will undercut and does not take a polish.
